Scrappage Incentive Scheme - How Many Were Lost?

I did a bit of digging around on the net and it would seem that the old airfield site is a business park that's home to various other places including an autodrome that offers track days. Whilst there's security at the main entrance to the park that take your details on arrival, it seems that there's nothing really to stop you driving around the entire site to have a look around if you're accessing one of the other businesses there. I might have to pop up to the autodrome to check out their gift experience track days, it's a big site though and I'm utterly hopeless at following at directions, so I'm bound to take a wrong turn and end up on the wrong side of the airfield.

id seriously consider accidentally trespassing for a good nose around there surely the security can't be that much ? unless they have someone in the tower ?

I don't think they'll actually spend too much money on security. I mean the cars are going to the crusher eventually anyway, even without various parts...

Ha Ha,..... Tower
Now i'm imagining armed guards sniping at people running across the runway as they are hopping, stumbling and skipping to avoid the bullets

I always wondered how many Mini's were lost forever to the Scrappage scheme? I did a bit of digging but couldn't find any meaningful information, but as a man with slightly too much time on his hands and a vague understanding of the Freedom of Information act, I decided to find out!
SO....... I asked the government, and somewhat to my surprise, they gave me the data , some of its a bit of a mess, so I am working through the figures at the moment, but I can tell you that the number of Minis taken off the road was........................................
702
Which wasn't quite as high as I thought, I do have a bit of a breakdown of models and manufacturers, so I will try and post up some more stats over the next couple of days. There were quite a few limited/special editions scrapped as well
I noticed your 'Freedom of Information' request on the scrappage scheme numbers has made headlines in both of the weekly Classic Car newspapers and also the inside pages of Autocar magazine this week.

Mmmmmmm, I feel the need to put my camouflage and concealment training to good use, haha! I could save a fortune on my list of parts I want for the Mini!!!

Wow, yes those are the results of my FoI request plastered across the front page, I did actually think of approaching some classic and specialist car mags with an article when I got the figures, but couldnt be bothered and stuck it on TMF instead
TMF, the first and last place for automotive breaking news!
