The only accurate way to test a Torque wrench is by using an Acro Torque tester. This will confirm the accuracy of your torque wrench settings. In theory a new torque wrench should be calibrated and fine to use but there can always be the odd one that slips through the quality process.

We use this kit every time we torque bolts / screws etc on Aircraft.

Well Dad found his old style torque wrench today with a gauge on it where you torque until the needle hits the number you want. So will use that as a comparison. May not be perfect but it's all I got. I will ask my mate too, he will definitely have one.

Thanks,

Cam.

Well I would like to say thank you to all as I got my new GEG300 gasket on today and all is well and the car runs like a dream!

I ended up running it up for about 5 minutes with about half a rad of water then filled it up after it's first cycle.

Thanks again,

Cam.

Thanks for telling us the end result Cam... that is good news.  Good thread - lots of input from different people - all pointing in roughly the same direction. Well done forum members

I would buy you all a pint. But I'm 16 so I can't. Shame that eh? ;)

Seriously though, I really do appreciate all your input. This forum is great!

Cam.

Glad it is sorted. Makes me doubt the integrity of BK450 gaskets though.
