Hi Ive just done a 7.5" cooper s brake conversion using a mix of new and used parts, my calipers are brand new and wondered if I should paint them, Im going for  60s cooper S styling with the car and wondered if the calipers would have ever been painted or should i leave them in the goldy casting colour,

cheers  :w00t:

I would paint them, otherwise over the years, they'll get all rusty and corroded and look horrible like nearly every other car on the road. If you want something subtle, then a light grey would look good.

If they cannot be sen then black will be ideal. Obviously if you can see them then if they are anodised gold etc then the same colour paint would be the way to go. It's what you really like though that matters.

I have half a tin of the BMC engine green left over from painting my engine, would this look ok? would it resist the temperatures?

Without knowing the heat range I cannot really answer that. In theory unless you are racing then your brakes should not get that hot so it may be fine to use.

I know they cant be seen but its a nice touch, and when i take the wheels off they will look smart, I think Ill either do the engine green or black, as its what ive got on the shelf!  :D

I've done them in the green, and they look quite good, hopefully it don't all burn or peel off!
