I don't think it's legal to do the projector conversion in the UK

That is about hids not projectors. Hids are the bulb and need projectors to work properly so you could fit hids to a mini with projectors and get the benefit although it would still technically be illegal as they need to be able to adjust automatically

I'd say that 99% of classic owners could benefit from a couple relays and the H4 conversion. I know that was my first step.

If you want to know what goes into making your own Projectors for HID's, check out my thread I posted as detailed of a step-by-step as I could when I did mine. I've done 4 sets of headlights. 2 for my personal vehicles including the mini.

Thanks, Miniac86. I was pretty happy with the car over all back then, but I'll be much happier with it after I finish my restoration. I'll be posting the resto on here sometime in the next week or so.

cool .......................read the thread........ impressed...saw a pair of those 7" lamps at the manifest last weekend
should have bought em...........aw well back to the drawing board
just one question if I am cutting the headlight so that the projector housings fit why bother buying a headlamp with a projector built in ? why not use a standard 7" casing ?

I personally didn't care at all that they had the fake projector lens in them. It just so happened that they were the cheapest set of 7" rounds with a black reflector. haha. If there was a cheaper pair I'd go wth them.

LED is the future now.

I was at the Stoneleigh Kit Car Show over the May Bank Holiday. There were a lot of E marked LED headlights. They'll come down in price now they're starting to be manufactured in volume.
