Having been out in the Mini this morning I found myself with a new 3000rpm rev limit ? odd and not much fun with a 276 cam.

What I have done since my last dry road trip is fit a new MSC 105 Gold Coil made by Intermotor to replace the Lucas DLB 105 which are proving to be unreliable. so I quickly swapped coils and retested ... mmhh still 3000rpm and I noticed the needle come to a abrupt stop at 3000? then by chance I noticed the needle stuck at 1000rpm when powered down?

Removed the rear cover to find a circluar reflective piece of foiled paper which goes around the bulbs to direct more light forward had lifted at the join, the lifted join of the foil covered reflective paper was now up on the PCB and seemed to be in contact with the electronics, removed the paper and restarted the engine, needle now responded as normal and my 3000rpm limit was fixed.

So if you have the TIM Revcounter below and yours starts playing up have a look inside before binning the Tacho
