I have done and can't say I've noticed any increase in performance to be honest. It does seem to increase the banging and popping on the overrun which as immature as it is... sounds cool.

I do :)

I think its a little bit more pokey but not by much, cant say much for mpg i only get about 18mpg and the type of fuel isn't going to make a difference.

At the end of the day its like £1 extra, if anything it makes you feel posh ;)

And I agree it makes it sound better :)

if you use your mini daily 'normal' unleaded is fine, if you use the mini occasionally every 3 tanks use super unleaded, apart from the 'go faster !!' element it contains various additives which are beneficial to the longevity of your fuel lines pump and fuel tank

Everyone has their opinion on this subject. In a carb Mini, you'll notice probably no difference unless you advance the ignition to suit.

In an injection Mini, this is done automatically, so you would be more likely to notice the difference straight away.

I always use Shell V-Power anyway mainly due to the fact it is a better quality fuel, and it keeps the engine cleaner.

Do a search on the subject, this has been covered extensively multiple times.

Unless you are running a higher compression ratio than standard it makes no difference. All the additional RON means is that with a higher compression a greater ignition advance can be run without detonation and more power/torque extracted without damage to pistons/piston rings.

To put 97+ petrol in a car with a standard dizzy and comp. ratio is just wasting money.

When I used to use lead additive in my mini I swapped to octane boosted additive when the normal one ran out and I could definitely tell a differance in engine pickup, I don't think it made a difference to power but was just generally nicer to drive. Its a 998 carb mini

I run my 1380 on super unleaded & castrol valve master plus as its high compression and still using a leaded big valve head

In Australia nearly all the "regular" unleaded has ethanol in it, so I use the high octane as it doesn't have any ethanol content...

I'd also be lucky to fill the tank twice a month, so the price difference really doesn't matter

Always Super Unleaded for me plus Millers VSPE Power Plus.

Not only for the added octane rating but for the shelf life of the fuel as well.  Great for when the car is put to bed over the winter months!  No gummed up carb or fuel lines, stale fuel and a car that won't start!

i noticed my mini seems to run a little cooler on super unleaded and stopped over run when turning the engine off after my drive home.

it's only £1.25 a litre for the super unleaded compared to £1.23 for normal at my local.

i seem to do slightly better mpg on super unleaded too, £10 a week is all i use as work is only 4 mile away.

I do, mainly because my daily driver only runs on the high octane stuff.  I know if i was chopping and changing, one tired morning, i would sendup filling my daily with the cheap fuel and ruin it.  Not worth the risk and the mini now doesn't really like running on normal fuel anyway.  better pops and bangs on over run too :D

+1, v power in both my Minis and diesel daily, really makes a difference.
