Hi guys, I'm new here so be gentle with me ;D

A good mate of mine has a Hayabusa Z-Cars Mini, my mate is also not technically minded so has asked me to do a few little jobs on the car.

The first thing I need to address is some horrible chain lash, can someone on here explain to me where & how the chain adjustment is made on a Z-Cars Mini please?

If it's possible to post photos that would be of great help too.

Many thanks, Dave.

Hi again, lots of people have viewed this but no one has answered?

Can some one help please, is the adjustment achieved at the engine or axle end?

Thanks in advance, Dave.

There are a couple of turn buckles under the chain diff, adjust them an equal amount of turns until the chain is fairly taut but not tight and then check with a straight edge that the sprockets are in alignment. You may have to do some work here with spacers, etc as they can be a long way out of alignment even from the factory, this will ensure the best possible reliability and chain life

Cheers

David

One more thing, once adjusted you need to rotate the diff fully to make sure there are no tight spots, as the chain can stretch more in one area than another

Brilliant David, many thanks for tking the time to explain.

The alighnment thing makes sense to me and perhaps its as much the problem as the tention.

I say this because the dreadful clanging noise gets much worse on left hand corners, the car was factory built and I hope I'm not offending anyone here by saying the whole thing looks a bit agricultural and thrown together to me.

The car has hardly turned a wheel since it was delivered, how the guys at Z-Cars could have let the car go with such a dreadful chain lash (alignment) issue is beyond me, but it sounds like a straight edge, a few shims and shome chain adjustment should sort it.

Thanks again, Dave.
