As promised at last I've made a start on welding the front end.

First on was the front panel.

Next both A-panels.

Both cleaned up, the lip folded over and primered.

Apologies for the lack of updates, been a lot going on and a lot getting done. I'll break up the rather large update into smaller ones so that you're not over whelmed.

So here we go

All this takes place from March 2017 to present.

Seam sealing done.

20170604_114428.jpg

20170604_114438.jpg

20170611_122452.jpg

20170611_122507.jpg

Next was to send the engine away to have a refresh - or so i thought.

20170826_123030.jpg

It went to Thomas Classic and Modern and when stripped down wasn't good.

FB_IMG_1505230128498.jpg

FB_IMG_1505230137542.jpg

So anyway that had to be sorted.

The following is the new engine/gearbox spec. Needless to say she's not a 1275GT any more but a 1380GT.

Engine Rebuild by Ross Thomas of Thomas Classic & Modern Dec 2017

Bored to 1380 cc

New Crankshaft

Calver ST unleaded big valve head with stainless steel MAR Motorsport valves

MAR Motorsport pistons

Duplex timing chain

MED lightened flywheel, pre verto clutch with orange diaphragm

AC Dodd RT fast road cam

Lucas 45D distributor, AC Dodd recurved with Luminition electronic ignition module

HIF44 carb, AC Dodd serviced and tuned for fast road

Xpin diff with 3.1 final drive

Blueprinted oil pump

Maniflow LCB Stage 2 manifold with Volcanic Black ceramic coating by Performance 1 coatings

Fletcher stainless steel side exit exhaust with stainless steel link pipe

2 Core aluminium radiator

I think that's all.

20180716_154610_Burst01.jpg

20180716_154544_Burst01.jpg

Underneath epoxy primed, coated with Raptor then at least 4 coats of black coach paint.

20171203_115603.jpg

Epoxy primer.

20171230_114505.jpg

Raptor.

20180101_135515_007.jpg

20180101_135548_006.jpg

Coachpaint.

20180121_123938.jpg

20180121_124003.jpg

Then off to the bodyshop for her paint.

20180502_185638.jpg

I will continue and complete the update to where she is in the coming week.

As the shell was away at the bodyshop it was time to get all the other jobs done.

1st was to strip down the front subframe.
20180106_103303.jpg

And buy a new rear subby.
20171207_120741.jpg

Both were then sent for blasting and powdercoating.
20180119_135344.jpg
20180119_135301.jpg

And while they were away the front suspension arms, front and rear hubs and radius arms were stripped and painted.
20171125_111302.jpg
20171107_095200.jpg
20171113_131153.jpg
20171119_125114.jpg

Nice and painted.
20171123_095428.jpg
20171123_095913.jpg
20171130_095919.jpg

All back together with new bearings/swivel pins.
20180228_115043.jpg

And with cv joints, disks and driveshafts ready for front subframe rebuild.
20180301_111056_001.jpg
20180307_103757.jpg

Same goes for the rear subframe.
20180310_112350.jpg

All ready to be put back together.

More refurbing, this time the startermotor.
New brushes and a coat of paint
20180127_113751.jpg
20180127_120139.jpg

Made new extended seat brackets.
20180106_121431.jpg
20180107_114904.jpg

And had those powdercoated as well.
20180119_135645_Burst01.jpg

Also made a bracket for a brake bias valve that I will be fitting to the bulkhead cross member as I'm fitting a later servo unit to uprate the brakes as well as a bracket for a fuel filter/regulator.
20180421_094804.jpg
20180421_104004.jpg
20180421_122144.jpg
20180421_132704_015.jpg

Servo bracket and pedal box powdercoated and reassembled.
20180415_122200.jpg

Servo stripped down and a service kit fitted (that was a bugger to get back together).
20180415_132829.jpg

Here you can see the brackets and where the brake bias valve was situated (at the bottom of the servo to the left). I later moved the fuel filter to the other side of the bulkhead nearer the fuel pump as you can see from the next pic.
20180421_141005.jpg
20180429_120139.jpg

Now as the fuel filter was where the original washer bottle was I got one from an SPi and fitted it to the inner wing by the brake servo.
20180430_195528.jpg

Next was an electrical repair of the indicator stalk. Nasty connectors from the previous owner were removed and new cable was used and soldered in.
20180419_104808.jpg
20180419_115209.jpg

All finished off with loom tape.

Lovely work on the subframes and fittings! They look great! I really like the seat extender brackets that you made and the bracket for the fuel filter. I'd love to make seat extender brackets like that.

And as she was away getting painted there was a lovely empty garage so I thought I'd get the spray gun out and paint the wheels, tank and grille.

Finished wheels, by no means perfect. I'll see how they go and might get them powdercoated next year.
20180529_200031.jpg

The finished grille.
20180616_120433.jpg

Also went shopping and bought complete Fletcher stainless steel exhaust, alloy radiator, Maniflow LCB Stage 2 manifold and new front and rear wiring looms.

Looms.
20180608_171546_001.jpg

I had the manifold ceramic coated in Volcanic black by Performance 1 coatings in Oxford.
