I would make a bet that just about everyone on this site has, at some point, done something equally as reckless involving a shopping trolley and a load of p***ed mates.
Anyone Else Think This Is Very Harsh

yup!
Only once though because we was a tad forceful and my mate ended up sailing into the road before we could catch up to stop him. Luckily, no traffic but sobered us up a bit quick!

When I lived in the Netherlands we had a race up one of the main streets in The Hague with two people in the trolley and one pushing. It was GB v NED and we won. They disagreed but we asked a policeman who was watching the whole thing and he agreed that we had won. I love the Netherlands!yup!I would make a bet that just about everyone on this site has, at some point, done something equally as reckless involving a shopping trolley and a load of p***ed mates.

What a joke, 2 years ban? Drink drivers get less than that, so do rapists, so do paedophiles
Paedophiles and rapists get less than a 2 year driving ban?
Always someone trying to be a smart a*se isn't there. I'm talking along the lines of punishment for the offence. Some rapists get just a couple of years yet they have destroyed a person's life! Paedophiles who view illegal images get nothing more than community service or at most a years spell in the nick!
Carry on........

The comparison just doesn't make any sense at all! That's why I questioned it.

This happened on private land not a public highway, how can they be prosecuted at all?
A carpark isn't deemed as private land if the public are deemed to have reasonable access to it, the laws of the road still apply

How is (in your eyes) a 1 year custodial sentence worth "less" than a 2 year driving ban?
I'm not even arguing, the 2 year ban is way out of proportion for the so called 'crime'. Judges need to give their heads a shake and wake up. Nobody was hurt, although something could have gone wrong, it didn't. A sobering fine and a few points would have been fit punishment. Not too soft and not too harsh, just like what they did, not very clever but nobody was hurt!

if they get a custodial sentence then it's almost the same as a ban i suppose??
