For those that don't visit 'General Chat' the popular thread has been moved

Proof Bini's Can Look Cool!

How very sad.......after 4 years, 48 pages, 711 replies and 49,424 views.......someone (I wonder who?) on TMF decides this very popular thread is no longer worthy of being in the main Mini Chat forum.....I sometimes wonder why I bother posting what I hope are some interesting archive classic Mini topics and the occasional new MINI topic on TMF......

I reluctantly accepted this recent unnecessary (in my view) rule with new posts but not on this popular 4 year old thread which should be exempted as it started long before the 'new' rule was introduced. I don't think it was doing any harm occasionally popping back up in Mini Chat and helping a little towards promoting a better understanding of both sides of the Mini/MINI scene.

Some of the content you post reminds me of Taffy, infact theres an area on this forum dedicated to that kind of material.

EDIT: Just seen alot of your topics in that area, either by yourself or moved there.

I cannot comment on the bini thread as I dont know, but feel that is the correct place for this. We arent againist BMW minis, but we are a forum dedicated to the classic mini, so mini chat should reflect classic minis, thus BMW minis been moved to general chat.

Got to agree with Jordie,
It has nothing to do with me as I never posted on it or even looked at it but this is a Classic Mini forum so why would people want to come on here to discuss the BMW ones?

Its the same as facebook with people posting about the bmw one on them.(they quickly get abuse though).
Not by me lol
I think some people just dont read forum rules and the groups titles which gives it away.

Personally I think it a good thing that the mods actually do things like this.
It shows they are constantly trying to make this forum as good and accurate as possible rather than let it go crazy with posts all over the place.

It's nice to know they actually care about this forum still after all this time.

Call me a brown nose or whatever you like but I think this forum is pretty spot on!

Thanks for your support.

The team put in a lot of time in order to help the forum run smoothly. We make judgement calls which people do not agree with, but such is life.

The first thing I do when I get up every morning is go on the forum and review reports.

I very rarely look in sections when I'm browsing the forum, I tend to use the view new content button.

I haven't been on any BMW MINI forums, but I wonder if they get posts about the classic mini, and how they deal with them?

Or, whether the BMW MINI forums are somehow guilt-tripped into accepting posts about classic Minis on them?

The way I see it, a forum is kind of like a book shop, or an open library.  Lots of people contribute to make the forum what it is.  Some people walk in and just plonk a book on the shelf, sometimes they put it in the wrong place.  Then other people walk into the library to look for a book about Classic Minis, but that shelf has a load of other stuff on it and it makes it harder to find what they were looking for.

In this case, the book was on the wrong shelf, we moved it.  Actually, I moved it.  I was sat on the bog yesterday and saw that there was a thread called "Proof Binis can look cool".  Saw it was in the Mini Chat section, so moved it to where it should be.  Don't think I've noticed it in the past. Didn't take note of the start date, just saw it was in the wrong place so moved it.  No malicious intent, just moved it because it was in the wrong place.

All of this "not worthy" stuff.  Not sure where that's come from?  It's a case of "Not Mini", it's as simple as that.  TMF is, always has been, and always will be a Classic Mini forum.  That section is, always has been, and always will be a Classic Mini Chat section.

It's really no hardship whatsoever to click on General Chat and view it in there.  BUT, if new comers to the forum see that the Classic Mini sections are filling up with stuff about the MINI, it'll just get confusing.  As for some sort of exemption because it's always been in the wrong place, well, no.  It's just an oversight that it was left in there.  I often move MINI stuff into General Chat, because that's where it's supposed to go.  In fact, you've said yourself that you're aware of this "new rule" about MINI stuff being put in General Chat.  It's not a new rule.  It's a new clarification, because people didn't seem to "get" that we're a Classic Mini forum.  That the Mini Chat section should be for Mini stuff only.  I just don't see an issue with this at all.  I mean, it's really not hurting anyone at all, is it?

I'm just sorry it's been taken personally.  That's absolutely not what this is about.  It's just about keeping things tidy and organised.

Zero malicious intent (despite being called small-minded...thanks for that).

The comments like "we wouldn't have a citroen thread or transit van thread in general chat so why a mini one as they are about as closely related just make me think bunch of dicks and not want to contribute, all the car shows feature a good mix of new an old Minis so I dont see why we cant be grown up about them, even a thread started in general non mini chat about Binis gets trolled by idiots young and old. Very sad really.

You don't think there's a chance that the shows invite both groups of cars there to increase their revenue?
