Last week I picked up a McCoy kit car, which has now been named "Bones":

Sadly it's spent a couple of years sat under some tarps, so it was somewhat waterlogged inside. Also, all the parts were stacked inside.

I spent yesterday clearing all the parts out from inside, throwing out the crap, doing a basic sort of the parts and getting all the water out of the inside. I took the pictures above as the light was failing after I'd cleaned it all out. Waiting for it to dry out properly now, so I can vacuum the last of the bits out of it. Looks a lot cleaner inside now though:

Ended up with several piles of bits:

Doors and windows:

Seals and other rubber, along with the heater and miscellaneous cables:

Various lights from both the McCoy and, presumably, the donor Mini:

A spare set of wheels and various metal brackets:

And a pile of miscellaneous bits:

The seats are basically shot, unfortunately:

It does, however, come complete with a 1275 engine:

The only thing that appears to be missing is the fuel tank, but it uses one of the long, Mini van fuel tanks, so it's easy enough to replace.

Next step is to do a proper sort and clean up of the various bits once they've dried out properly so I can be sure I'm not missing anything important. The other thing I'll be doing next weekend is installing lights in the garage so I can work in the evenings.

Hi I've had a few of these there are a good strong shell and handle well.
First one I had in the 90s with a 1380 which was mostly factory built and had receipts for 7 k with it. a lot of fun was had.
Second one was last year. Bought off eBay after it had stood for 10 years in a garage done the usual brakes, fuel systems ,water and had a little fun then needed some space so sold it on.
Good luck with it I'm sure you will have lots of fun and there won't be many at the shows.

Thanks for the info! Your build looks somewhat more ambitious than mine, though!

That's a cracking set of photos too! I've actually yet to see another McCoy in the flesh, so it's nice to know that there are a few around!

I've been very remiss about checking and updating this thread. I'll have to put some more recent pictures up later in the week.

I'm hoping that I'm finally going to be able to test the engine in the next month or so. I reckon I need two or three weekends' work, assuming no surprises to get to that point. Finding those weekends before Christmas might be the challenge. :)

On the plus side, The windscreen and rear windows are in now, as are the fuel tank and radiator.

I've got to fabricate some brackets to hang the rear of the exhaust from and I need to run the fuel pipe and install the wiring loom, but nothing major at this point.

The biggest surprise was when I took a proper look underneath the rear and discovered coil-overs in place of the subframe I expected. The rear of the car is terrifyingly light!

I've also acquired a pair of Metro doors to cannibalise for the door furniture/locks/etc.

There doesn't appear to be anything problematic missing, so I'm hoping to get him back on the road in time for next spring/summer.

It does look like he's going to be lots of fun once he's running. I really need to get him going so I can get back to work on the Mini, which kind of fell by the wayside after this impulse buy. :)

The thing I'm least looking forward to, is trying to get those tiny, rear quarter windows fitted. The front and back windows were bad enough!
