HI EVERYONE.

        I have been toying with the idea of a vented boot lid for  the Zcar mini, we have all seen them in some sort of shape, or other forms . We know the cars work best when cool. and my rear boot has bubbles in the resin . to which i take its to hot near to the exhaust.  I have seen the vents in the rear boot . I have seen vents in the side windows. I have also seen side vents frenched into the side panels of the car. But to me It says Iam not a normal mini, and  the sleeper idea!  (element of surprise has gone. )

 So I have contacted ABS motorsport for some prices base on this idea;

Mk1  single skin boot lid. with reinforced bracing.

MK1 Number plate housing.

Vented and Louvred to look like the Porsche 911

Angled louvres  so that you can not see into engine bay

It will let hot air out of the back, keeping engine cool.

 I am sorry am no good on laptops, so can not draw or Photoshop my idea into a picture so you get a better idea. but based on the above I had this back.

To make a plug  will be £450 the mould will be £320  each boot lid being £110  plus Vat.

If 5 confirmed orders will half the cost of the plug.

If 10 confirmed orders. half the cost of the plug and make mould for free.

If 20 confirmed orders free mould and plug.

ABS Motorsport make all the body panels for the BTCC and rally teams ect. I have had stuff from them before. I have found them to be good with detail. A good fit. and good to work with. Feel free to through your ideas and thoughts into the pot.

In principal I think its a good idea, the problem I think you're going to have is convincing people to commit to buying something they've never seen. If I were still in the build stage this would be something that I'd be interested in and hopefully some of the people that are currently building may consider this as an option.

To help people visualise this how big are the Louvres, how many of them are there and where are they going to be placed on the bootlid?

My impression is to run them horizontal leaving enough room for the handle and hinges at the bottom.The looves would reduce in the Number plate surround area. they would run from left to right leaving a small space around the perimeter of the boot lid, to add rigidity and help with bracing it on the inside. How many or how wide. I did not specify.I took advice from ABS on that, but the impression is to follow along the lines of a porsche 996 ,911 ect. hope that helps a little.
