I drove a mini recently with a 12" steering wheel

cant believe how awful it was, I have personally always used a 340 -350mm

momo or similar wheel even on my race minis

obviously some people like them

get a lot more control over your car with larger wheel

13" would be the smallest I would use

but even then when I tried one on my car

the 14" was better

whats your opinion

14" is about as small as I would want to go.

Used to have small steering wheels on my minis and the steering was a bit, but not unpleasantly heavier.

Worst I drove was a Sportspack Cooper with 175 section tyres and standard airbag wheel - horrible at parking speeds!

Current Mk1 has the standard "bus" steering wheel, combined with skinny 520 crossply tyres its so light its like having power steering  ;D

Had a 10" Mountney on my 25 when it was on the road.

Always found it a pain to keep in a straight line when driving on motorways with a cross wind.

I prefer a larger wheel personally although a tiny chunky wheel is a laugh driving on town roads.

I use a Astrali Successor 2 steering wheel which I believe is 12". When I first fitted it I felt the mini really came alive compared to the standard 25 wheel. I like the slightly livelier steering feel you get from the slightly smaller wheel. However since changing my tracking I have found it to be a tad twitchy at motorway speeds.

I currently enjoy driving around with my nautical sized standard Mk1 steering wheel and very skinny tyres on 10" wheels, it's very light and easy to steer. I would love to one day try putting my dad's old MGB GT steering wheel in a Mini, that thing looks awesome and is even bigger - 16.5 inches if I remember correctly! :D

Here's a picture of one (not the exact car, ours is a RHD):

There's something about big steering wheels in little cars that makes me laugh :D Although I have a feeling that might be a little *too* big for a Mini, as I doubt the huge wheel would allow ample room for my legs, being 6ft tall!

I have a 10 or 11 inch for sale if anyone wants one?
I used it in my stage 2 998. Then fitted a 1380 and decided to fit a bigger wheel as it torqued steered a bit lol.
That was on 10x6 wheels.

My original cooper had a 10" mountney leather rim steering 10" x 6J wheels & 165/70 tyres, it was fine most of the time, though a tad heavy when parking. Was like driving with a ring doughnut (without the sugar obviously)
