Hello peeps
I've just taken my Dinky off the road. I plan to get the engine rebored as it almost certainly needs new piston rings.
Does anyone know the cost of a Rebore?

When I was looking I was quoted 100ish for rebore. The costs will add up though as whilst it is in the shop it's worth having other things done, ie chemical/hot wash, cam bearings, crack regrind, skim, the list goes on, but it all depends what the engine needs

I'm not sure what you have in mind, but I'm sure you'll find a whole swag of 'other stuff' that needs doing / replacing while your in there, it adds up pretty quick!

The rebore on its own when I had mine done was £80 + VAT. As stated above there's a LOT of extra stuff that will be needed.

Don't forget the cost of new Pistons, obviously, plus however much it costs to get them fitted on the rods.

If re-boring allow for the following (prices are as a guide only):

Rebore to next size up:                    £100

Set of 21253 pistons:                       £175

Deck the block top surface to suit:   £25

Skim head:                                       £25

Oil Pump:                                         £16

Set of big end bearings:                   £25

Set of main bearings:                       £30

Set of thrust bearings:                      £9

Possible crank re-grind:                   £50

Timing Chain:                                  £4

Gaskets:                                          £50

Fitting pistons to rods:                     £30

Whilst it is completely stripped you will need to remove the oil gallery plugs to clean out the galleries. It might be wise to fit a new clutch centre plate and release bearing and have the gearbox checked for wear. You might also need new valve guides, valve re-seating and possibly some new exhaust valves.
