So I've been wanting to try my hand a bit of metal sculpting for ages and finally decided to have a go. Hopefully starting with something fairly simple so that I could give it to the misses as a Christmas Present.
So I thought I'd do a little blog of how I get on producing a bunch of roses. I'd seen a few people over on the mig welding forum do them and thought they look really good. They have been posted loads of time over there so thought I would let you lot see how I get on instead.
First of all the petal template. One of the chaps had kindly produced a template to print out with the shapes on.
It was then a case of cutting the shapes out.
Transferring them to a sheet of .7 sheet steel.
And then cutting them out with the tin snips.
I've got about 12 petals cut out so far so a bit more to go to make 5 roses.
I also ordered some 6mm steel rod to make the stems.
More to follow...
