not much chance on an MPI, that's one of the spots they rust the worst.bulkheads are in demand. The turbo chaps like them to rebuild bulkheads.
I had to get mine from Belgium in the end.
Surprisingly it's completely solid!!

I don't want to turn this into a for sale thread but I'd be interested in a few bits from it please.

I now!!! it was an early mpi so they used this thing called paint unfortunately they didnt use this magical stuff on the a panels, or wheel arches, or flitch panel. although to be fair it turned out to be great weight saving

Technical its the opposite, As rust is the process of oxidation of iron in the presence of water it's heavier.

If I was you I would keep the old V5 on SORN tucked away in a drawer in your name........20 years in the future you may have the time and money to re-create a nostalgic replica of what will then be a rare and valuble MPi using a new BMH shell (despite DVLA rules it is impossible to date most other original Mini parts like subframes, etc). Many of my generation have recreated a new replica of a a 1960/70's Mini Cooper they once owned because they held on to the logbook for nostalgia reasons.......and many others of us now wish they had done so !
Also saves the hassle of re-registering the rebuilt car under Q reg plates and by then the 'Re-shell or die' campagn may have changed the rules anyway.
DVLA to include Reshell or Die proposal as part of a major review of INF26 legislation.
