hi guys, iv got a mpi that has had a light front ender. iv measured it up and its all square but as im an apprentice i cant afford to fix it and iv used quite alot of the bits on my other car.

in january i want to sell the shell with the v5. by then it will have no front suspension, no interior, no doors, boot, glass or anything. it will literally be a shell with  the rear subby and 2 steelies. its very rotten (will upload pics soon but i havent found all the rot yet) the roof is very good tho as is the back panel. it also has new sills i think but the front needs replacing, as does top dash rail, b pilers, inner hinge panel, rear wheel arches etc etc im sure there is more.

what do you think its worth?

Pretty much nothing, you might be lucky and get £50 but more likely you won't get anything beyond scrap value.

You make more money cutting it up and selling the good bits, the roof has to be worth £50 to someone (but they may not want the hassle and expense of moving the whole shell) and if you off to do shell cuts others will be interested. When I had to kill a shell a couple of years back, bits of it ended up going into eight other cars.

It's no hassle either, get some cutting discs and it's done in no time. Sad to kill one but it keeps others going and MPIs can rust like nothing else it seems.

If you sell it in that condition it can't be legally returned to the road under the current V5 anyway, there's not enough of it left to rebuild. Technically it's already scrapped so you may as well make something out of chopping the shell up into repair pieces and register it as scrapped.

If the roof is ok, cut through the pillars as low down as you can and list that. Easy to remove it that way and you'll get 40 or 50 quid for that.

I've even seen people pay for the rear seat belt upper mounts if they're carefully removed. Not that I'd weld in secondhand ones, but each to their own.

When I cut up my shell I was surprised what people wanted. The roof went in one go but most of the other bits were like a piece of a3 or smaller.

bulkheads are in demand. The turbo chaps like them to rebuild bulkheads.

I had to get mine from Belgium in the end.

I'd be interested in the seatbelt mounting points from the rear if you decide to cut it up, pm me if you do, I would require them cutting with excess metal so I would be able to drill the spot welds out neatly, thanks.

not much chance on an MPI, that's one of the spots they rust the worst.

I don't want to turn this into a for sale thread but I'd be interested in a few bits from it please.
