I've got the Cree XBD 80w 1156 and 1157 bulbs in my Mini.  They are very bright and have excellent viewing angles.

They look like these http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2591a2cdd5

But I ordered the whole set for my Mini from the manufacturer in China via Alibaba and saved myself a few £!

So just remove the battery warning light led,and alternator will all be fine and charging as it should?

I rather not make it any brighter there just for sake of knackering the alternator.

Do you know that using an LED in the charge warning lamp will stop the alternator working at all unless you make other changes to the wiring?

Found this out the hard way!!

Yes just keep the normal filament lamp in that one.  It needs to have a lamp there, or at least the same resistance as a lamp, but you need a warning so it may as well be fitted.  As I said there is a way to rewire it so the LED will work and the alternator still charge if you really want to.

The varying brightness of the bulb can tell you more anyway.

Will be changing mine over then . Luckily not been on the road yet, so not much damage could be done.

The argument, discussion or debate etc is invalid as soon as you say they were bought from eBay.

There is your first problem. Buy your led for a well known vehicle parts suppler whom have to abide by rules and reg and you won't have any issues. Simple. Stop buying cheap ebay crap

If you find they don't work, pull the back out and rotate them 180.

I like the dial LEDs. Anything to improve the rubbish ones fitted in the factory!

I am unsure of what bulb types I need, but I assume if I can get them, I can also use them in my oil pressure gauges etc.

Yes thats what i have and it works fine! Just not the voltage warning light. Have a look in the haynes manual to find the lucas bulb code and just google it to see whats out there. Theres a link to the dash ones on here thanks to 1984mini25!

Any idea how to wire the new cob led headlight bulbs to the mini, they do not light on the usual 3 pin connector, which cannot be rotated.
