Hello i am new to this forum :)

I am having trouble with my carbs on my A series 1380 MED built i have contacted them but they are reluctant to give me any information regarding the engine as i brought it on Ebay. The problem is if i run it on twin HS6 carbs they loose suction one at a time i can get one to run but the other will fail no piston lift so i adjust the timing then the other one will loose suction with no piston lift and the one that was not working will work???

It has only just starded since putting in a electronic ignition system so i have tryed running it on a single HIF44 carb but that will run but then it just dies. had to take the machanical fuel pump off as it was over fueling it so back to the electronic pump i have a weber 40 but it will tick over but no good under load. I am now lost as what to do next so if any one can help please......

1 3/4" from what i remember the number relates to how many eights of an inch over an inch the carb is?

Thanks ANON, would this then not be a case of an overfuelling problem via oversized carbs ?, and more possibly a timing issue.

I think perhaps twin hs4 is common for 1380. It is what I have on mine without much issue.

I have run a single HIF38 on mine and I'm now running a HS6, I don't have any problems with the mechanical fuel pump though.

My 1380 is setup on a HIF44 with electronic ignition (megajolt) and a Facet solid state fuel pump

Sorry for the delayed reply been at work.

engine spec:

A series 1380

267 cam

omega pistons

1.5 roller tip rockers

electronic dizzy and coil

stage 3 ported and polished head

It was built by MED engineering i have contacted them regarding the engine but they will not give me any information only that they did build it. It came with a aldon coil but it was totaly shot the guy that owned it before me didnt look after it at all.

The weber is now on it and i have found that the dizzy could be the problem as it will run better once i have taken lead 1 off the plug. It runs ok abit rich but yes it needs jetting. Thanks for any help.
