Here we go ..... Get ready for a serious update !!!
Sooooo the man form building control came and said dig dig dig , so we dug out the footings for the front extension .....
I accidentally hit the poorly made, old inspection chamber and had to rebuild it !!! nightmare !!!!
Then steve the boiler man came round , Steve Bowles of Carterton if you need his number for great service and cheap prices then pm me ! No one better !! Quoted me a very good price so I boarded the loft for his access to fit the boiler, removed all the rads etc and exposed all the pipes. He is coming next week
Next up the building controller said (on friday lunch time, in the hot sun, gagging to go home lol) , pour some concrete in the holes and call me next week , So for the last 2 days I have been getting concreted up to the max because work shut the site for a week. Unpaid, but hey ho, time is money !!!
Not without injuries though, Here is the result of 4hrs of having cement powder in your sock !! your sweaty sock !!!! Caustic burn to the leg !!! Ouch!!!
So the next stage involves building up to the floor level (DPC) and getting the floor levelled off etc. Building control coming in 10 days, Bricky on site Monday night so progress is good !!!
I also fixed my stairs by removing the treads that were damaged, had some made up at the wood yard and re installing them.
Photos tell the story !

So this week just gone has been busy, plasterers have smashed out the living room, the plumber has fitted a combi boiler and plumbed most of the house so moving towards moving in date for me.
Left to do then is finish the extension, get it knocked through and get the kitchen fitted. Get the bathroom fitted and all the wooden bits (skirting etc) and then i'm in !!!!!

Anyone know what steel etc I would need to support the columns at either side of my house?? I am removing the front wall to make a single storey extension and dont want the columns in the house getting in the way. On the ground floor I would like to get them knocked out but I need to support the brickwork above where it is pink, the red bit is clerly the choice for a standard lintel but how do I widen the load bearing areas either end?
Any ideas chaps??
