Hi All,

I have bought a pro motive kit (yet to arrive) and already have a 2003 R1. What is the best approach concerning the fuel system? I read somewhere that you can use a MPI tank including the fuel pump. Now I am breaking a complete (damaged) R1 so I have the originel yamaha fuelpump. Is it possible to fit that or is it difficult?

Thank!

Meindert

As Racerlike said, MPI tank is the easiest solution if you are planning to run a standard fuel tank.

If you plan to run an aluminium race fuel cell then you could mount the R1 motorbike fuel pump in this style of tank without too much work.

Thanks for the replies. I am planning on using the standard tank. So if I get the MPI tank including pump I only need to put a return line in place!? I will start lokking for one!

Hi,

I drive a MPI Mini converted with a R1 2003 5PW Yamaha engine (in Switzerland). I use the original MPI fuel pump. It works pretty well, but I would recommend to control the pressure. The MPI pump is supposed to give 2,5 bar (or 2,7 I'm ot sure), when 3 bars are needed for the Yamaha engine. As the Yamaha engine has 2-3x more power than the original Rover engine, be sure the pump is like new and delivers really 3 bars (even at 11'500 rpm).

Good luck!

Marc

I bougth a SPI fueltank and chose to replace the pump with a walbro 255lbh. It should certainly be up to the task!
