All right
my mini has lots of trouble in the corners, not handling wise... its the engine
if the engine is idling when i turn any 90 degree turn at more than 15mph the engine dies. If its in gear when I make the turn it kinda stops going, its like i'm not applying any pressure to the gas pedal. Until it straightens out again. And on really hard turns when it does this the odor of fuel is extremely apparant.

I have heard that it might be the mechanical fuel pump... or maybe the carbeurator... whats your guy's opinions?

Might be the fuel coming out of the float chamber in the carburettor but don't quote me on that, wait for one of the regulars to show up.

This is a problem that sometimes happens with HS4 carbs (also apparent during very sudden braking), that was fixed with the newer HIF38 and HIF44 carburettors. If this is indeed the problem I suggest you find a HIF38 carb somewhere abroad and have it shipped to you, it won't cost much too much!

I made a movie so you can see what happens:
http://homepage.mac....g/ministall.mov
you will probably want to right click on it and save target as. Or on a mac option click on it.

Well the HIF44 would be overkill for a 998 engine. HIF38 might not get better mileage, but it definitely won't get worse. The HIF is generally a better design than the previous HS carbs.

Then try to get a HIF44 but if it's a standard 1275, then a HIF38 will do with absolutely no problems.

Just to clear up, 44 means diameter in mm ~ 1.75"
38mm ~ 1.5"

The carb you have now is a HS4 which is 1.5"

So technically the equivalent to your carb now is the HIF38, but most people fit the HIF44 anyway (since that's what comes with 1275 metro engines)
