I am getting my mini back this weekend and want to set out the wiring and whatnot before laying down some fresh carpet. I am after a good punchy sound, clean but not nessesarily defending. I already have:

- http://www.caraudiod...rformance-ps130 to go up front. Tweeters mounted far left and right on the top dash rail (photo to follow)
- silent coat
- closed cell foam

I would like recommendations on:
- an amp to run two 6 or 8 inch subs under the rear bench.
- wiring for the above
- subs
- head unit
I have been looking for a Genesis Profile 4, but no idea of a good price to pay or if it's man enough for what I need. Advice welcome.

I would suggest that you go for 6.5" drivers up front.

5" just don't go low enough for good clear sound up front.

Genesis Profile 4 don't pay over £100 in fact less really.

I would look at the  Genesis Profile 4 Ultra to be honest, these go for between £100 and £200. They are a special amp as Gordon Taylor (the brains behind Genesis) actually used this model as a test bed for the never released Series 4 amp. So even when bought new they were crazy good value.

4 Ultra should be able to power the whole system for you.

Thanks Ruckus, great advice. Where would one find such an amp, they seem rare. All I can find on eBay is: http://pages.ebay.co...id=121541532201

That amp is over priced IMO.

I'll keep my eye out for you for a Ultra or another amp that would work.

You could just run a profile 2 and a profile sub if you're struggling to find a 4 ultra. That's what I have powering a pair of 6.5" comps and a JL 8w7 in my camper and I can't fault them.

Not a bad idea. Even these seem rare though, or very pricey.

Re. The wiring for amp, is there a particular kit I should buy? I want to run this before putting the carpet down.

Thanks for looking mate, appreciate it. It's a single channel amp though.

So I have got some 16 gauge speaker cable, amp wiring but am still on the hunt for a Genesis amp. Anyone have any tips (eBay has been my main hunting ground up until now).

I would have said talk audio but last time I went on there the for sale forum had gone in favour of a horrible classified section that seemed dead.

It's been like that for years now.

Still the best place to get kit in the UK, but the amount of stuff put up is low.
