I currently have a totally standard set up of suspension on my mini and want to do a complete overhaul and get it all up to scratch but what should I go for?

I would like to stiffen the ride and improve the handling in general it would also be nice to have an adjustable set on there.

Can anyone help me with this dilemma??

ive got AVO fully adjustable and re-buildable shocks all round on mine, just about the best you can get without going over onto coil-overs, at over 60-70mph on country lanes the car sits dead level even on the most challenging of ruts, on crests the car quickly settles and squats, it can corner much faster than a 1275 Stg3 engined mini with Gmax shocks all round, i recommend them to everyone

Avo are very good, but a cheaper option, but still very good are GAZ adjustables, I had these and couldnt fault them. One thing I will say tho is if you buy new shocks, get the lowwered ride height versions of which ever brand you go for, they are the same price as the standard ones, but about on inch shorter, this will eliminate any future shock bottoming out problems you might get later if you lower the car.

Another way of improving ride is by fitting either uprated bushes all round, or a combo of solid subframe mounts and uprated bushes. This helps to get rid of the soggyness in the suspension.

And to lower the car, go for a set of Hi-Lo's, everyone always says to stay away from the cheap ones, but my full set cost £37 and I never had any problems with them.

If your not in a hurry for all the bits, wait till a show and try and get them there, you quite often get good deals at the shows and can sometimes talk em down a bit on the price too.

Get some uprated tie-bars as well & do away with the nasty standard "matchstick" ones.
