Here comes the crappest project thread to hit the internet. Anyone on here that knows me will know how long I have wanted one of these and I finally sorted one.

I put the deposit down on this today.

Its a 1974 Commer van with a Suntour camper conversion.

Its quite a rare one as well with a side door.

As you can see its ratty and tatty and a perfect start for me to do my own things to. Its away having a few bits sorted at the moment so it will have a years MOT on it when I collect it.

I would love to 2 town paint it with a cream top an a blaze orange bottom but I won't be able to afford that until my minis are sorted so it will stay a bit rough and ready for the next few years.

In true Jon style though I found some wheels for it. The PCD on these is a pain in the ass to find wheels for but they happen to have the PCD of the another one of my favourite cars. The Rover SD1 so I found a set of Vitesse wheels which will probably end up painted gold.

The place sorting the work out will take lots of pics of whats being done so I'll get them up as I get them.

Anyway I am so happy to finally have one and I can't wait to get some camping trips sorted this year!!!!!

Trust me its not my normal way of doing things. I love to get stuck in and do things myself but if you saw my front garden you would see why I have let someone else start this haha. I am way too busy with work at the moment i would never get this done before summer.

Don't think I'll be decking it like that. I do love the Milk and Two Commers though. They are quite roomy in the back a lot more space then the VW busses as engine isn't in the back taking up the space you want too use.

VWs are also a lot more expensive cause of all the scene tax. These are still quite a forgotten about van really so you can pick up a totally mint one for about 8k. A totally mint splittly would be 20k upward which IMO makes these vans a bit of a bargain.

Good luck they don't end up on there very much. People who do have them tend to hold on to them. You have no idea how long its taken to find one!

There is a real nice commer mini bus for sale on the bay at the moment though.

Apparently it should be able to stick to 60 alright. Its that flat out hill in Bourton on the hill i'm worries about. My Sprinter struggles there I doubt a 41 year old van is gonna like that much haha. Specially when its full of my weekends worth of cider haha.
