Did you get a new battery? its normal for the revs to drop some but maybe not that much.

tested the battery with the halford free battery test and its all working fine (just doesn't like the cold im guessing)

so you have not had the battery tested then?

get it drop tested. OR you have too much electrical stuff for your battery and a bigger capacity one is needed.

i just took it to halfords for the test and everything came back good so i dont know what they say and ive had this battery for a few months and it has only started happening since i got this new alternator and i used to run lots more things from it before the alternator.

Combination of cold weather and alternator load, might be a bit weak on idle that would allow the revs to drop a bit, have you done a engine tune?

ahhhh that will be the issue.

your alternator is actually working and showing up all your other issues.

so just play about with the timing and that should fix the issue?

Get a timing light and mark the dizzy at its current position so you can always go back to it in case you mess it up

Check plugs and points (if any) tappets, timing set with a timing light (Vac Off) and then set the mixture, either lifting pin or CO Meter if you have one?
