Hi all, as part of my restoration im getting myself a pair of classic cobra clubman bucket seats and im just wondering what seatbelts you would all reccomend? I have just normal seatbelts at the moment but like the idea of a 4 point harness. Would i need a harness bar and can i have one without a rear collcage? Thanks a lot.
Jack.

You can mount to the rear seatbelt lower mounting holes. Or drill and use spreader plates and the threaded mounting fixings.

Full harness belts just turn your Mini into a 2-seater.

Are not most Minis two seat anyway?

Soon as you fit any comfortable seat the rear acces and leg room is gone.

The only time I have had more than two in a Mini was when I had a Pick-up.

If you do a lot of short journeys I wouldn't bother! I had them in my mx5 and sometimes I just couldn't be bothered because I had to put my harness on lol. If your dead set on one though go for something less than a 4 point :)

I have to admit that when I do a short journey on the road in my rally 'S' I often don't bother with the belts because they are 4-point harness-type. But that, whilst probably being ill advised, is legal because my car is not legally required to have belts for use on the public roads as it's a 1964.

That is not actually the case, the law requires you to use a belt where it is provided whether the car has to have one or not. And it doesn't mention that being a road approved E or kite marked belt, just a belt. Of course being mates with a chief constable probably helps here, but please don't tell people it's legal.

Well you learn new things all the time. I always assumed that as belts are nor required by law in my 'S' then I don't have to wear the full harness ones fitted to meet FIA rules for competition.

Mine is purple, but I have been told that's normal

It's one of those, if they're fitted you've got to use them things.

I'm not keen on harnesses for road use, they're very restrictive. Different for a rally or track application
