Hi guys

I've own my first mini now for almost a year , I brought a 1989 mini city 1000 back in March 2014 and being my first classic car it's taught me a lot, a real eye opener. I got it with 9 months which to me was good enough and blinded by just wanting a mini drove Frank home... smell of damp and petrol was all just character building and didn't bother me to much, but the April showers soon set in and one morning I got in Frank and it was fair to say I had a small lake in the passenger and driver floor well.. haha from there on I found nothing but rust and still to this day have no idea how the car had passed it's mot only 4 months before I swear it was held together with body filler.. Just after May I thought enough was enough and he was declared sorn... With little knoweledge and experience I took him with a screw driver and an angle grinder and end up with no boot floor, rear wheel arches , front floor pans, flinch pannels , rear inners sills and not much back floor, It was probably ready for the scrap yard, but loving the car I worked little by little and got him back into one solid peice, looking like Frankenstein I was certain now being a soild car I would take him to get an mot. No rear subframe was no good, exhaust was blowing, tires needed replacing and all the electronics seem to have failed, heart broken I got him delivered home.. I needed to start looking for decent car to get to uni and back in, that's when I stumbled upon a 1991 neon a phone call and 2days later I was the proud owner of my second mini which happends to be solid.. the engine needs a rebuild but I was aware of this and got it for a really got price, having a good little engine in Frank means over the next couple of weekend I'll be dropping it and he'll live on ....while I attempt to rebuild this other engine... I don't really know anyone in the mini community but I'd really like to get to know some guys and do some mini runs this year, I'm in the stoke on Trent area If anyone is around and can offer any advice...

You'll do just fine, if you were brave enough to buy another you're obviously made of the right stuff for Mini ownership!

Hello fellow Neon Owner!

I'm originally from Stafford - so not to far from you!

I'm living in Warrington at the mo but always up and down!

In the process of a complete nut and bolt resto at the mo so I feel your pain!

Also I went to Stoke Uni!

If your thinking of ripping your beautiful Neon interior out and replacing it with shiny black leather ones - give me a shout !!

x
