Yeah, as long as you use the correct oil pump (the slot drives the oil pump).

Hi pal  but I have been told that the pre A+ block is 1/4" shorter and a my need some sort of spacer in front of the oil pump to pack it out !!!

i'm just checking on here to see what people think

o and I have a new oil pump which is slot drive, so that's ok :)..

I think they referred to the spider drive connector which looked like a spacer

You dont need no spacer A series engines are all the same length

A matching oil pump is what you need.

but why you would want to do this I don't know as the spider drive gives you the option of the 5 lobe pump.

or did back in the day.

It's nigh on impossible to get new spider-drive cams ... All slot drive now.

All A and A+ blocks are the same overall length.

However with A blocks (not sure about A+) there is a difference between small bore and large bore blocks. The oil pump face is 1/4 inch different between the two, so if you use a spider cam in a small bore block you need to have a 1/4 inch plate spacer between oil pump and block.

For pin drive cams this is why there are two types of oil pump - for small bore and for large bore (Cooper S type).

The 1275 Oil Pump Facing is 1/4" further out than on the small bore engines. All Cams will Fit all Blocks, just need to be sure you not only have the correct Drive (Spade, Pin etc) but the correct reach of pump too.
