Hello guys, just a quicky!
Is white spirit suitable to use as a panel wipe for removing grease and residue before painting metal?

(hoping you say yes as i've just left my POR-15'd subframe to dry its first coat outside, having wiped it with white spirit and metal ready.)

Cheers guys!

yeah it's a good degreaser, but... you'll have to let it dry THOROUGHLY before painting as it leaves a greasy residue behind which will only evaporate slowly... it will disappear, but I'd give it a little while for it to properly evaporate... maybe even an hour or two....

As you have done this it should be fine..

But you can buy a 5 litre can of panel wipe for about £9
this is the properstuff to use,

wipe it on and wipe it off quickly with a clean cloth as it dries real fast.
You have to give it a good wipe off, dont just leave it.. do a foot squeare at a time...
tack rag the surface (picks up any dust, fibres etc) and your ready to paint
