Dad hasn't driven 50 miles in a year so he's thinking of selling his fibreglass mini.

It's a full sized fibreglass shell converted 10-15 years ago. Registered as an Austin Mini.

Engine:

1380cc A+ engine using a 12H block which was surfaced 0.030".
It has cast Omega pistons with 11cc dish
Metro Turbo crank std/std
Lightened Verto Pre-Engaged Flywheel + Turbo Clutch kit
Centre Main Strap
Duplex timing
Stage 4 Minispeed Cylinder Head with standard rocker assembly
276 Reground Cam
Recon Std Gearbox with 3.44 final drive

Done minimal miles since it was fitted - only just run in really.

Inside:

Full roll cage with door bars - very strong shell!

Bucket seats and harnesses.

Fully carpeted

Outside:

Cooper s type discs with 6x10 Mambas in great condition with nearly new Yokos

Minifins on the rear.

Origin of the shell is unknown but the arches are part of the shell, not blended in add-ons.

Metal doors and boot lid but fibreglass bonnet. Front is fully removable but is bolted in solidly to the A pillars.

Pictures should tell the rest of the story!
Any info on the shell would be greatly appreciated - really hard to value as we haven't really seen anything similar.

Certainly never seen another one.

It was all registered etc before he bought it so I assume so. As said, it was all converted to the fibreglass shell 10-15 years ago.

Ok, thanks for the advice. I'll check but if anyone can give a value assuming it is all present and correct, that would be great!

Thanks, it really is great fun and very nimble due to the weight. The thing's never seen rain, despite being fibreglass.

No rust!!! Ever!!!

Yes but not sure what it's worth as it was bought a while ago and upgraded a lot since then.

After a bit of research, seems it's either a Minitech Sportsman or a TDK FRA Shell. Can anyone shed any light on this and the history of these shells?

Thanks.

Do you have any idea of a region yourself you think. I suppose is a difficult one to price

It came as part of a deal with a couple other minis and loads of parts so can't really gauge it that way, and haven't seen anything similar for sale. Wouldn't really class it as a kit car.

For insurance purposes it would have to be classed as a kit car really due to the monocoque design. Is there any supporting paperwork with it and the re-shell at all? I would quite interested in seeing what your thoughts are on price for myself but would like to know some background stuff really to be honest and also car condition with the body work.

Which mag? Did have a photo shoot etc with someone but never heard anything else. I subscribe to miniworld but moved house recently so may have missed it.

Update: The car was changed to FG shell in late '90s and was classed as a replacement shell. DVLA have been contacted just before the car was bought (5 years ago) and they said as it was replaced so long ago it doesn't need any further inspection/paperwork.

So all is kosher, present and correct. Still looking for a number! How much would you pay for it?

Thanks
