Hi guys my names Doug I work at JDM Connection in Canada importing used vehicles from Japan. Currently in the process of purchasing a classic mini just wondering what are some known problems or things I should watch out for?

Rust....lol and welcome to TMF and enjoy......well which model are you looking at and the year......as this will help......but rust is top of the list........... :highfive:

Still looking at options want something 1996 rover mini or newer or whatever is a popular model for engine mods etc.. Looking for info on the popular models before I decide on the exact one I want so any input would be greatly appreciated!

As said , rust , rust and more rust ,  rusty subframes  .

Pretty much all 90's era Mini's tend to rust a lot worse than earlier Mini's, they're particularly prone to rust around the windscreen scuttle panel, which normally also takes the bulkhead and dash top rail as all 3 panels are spot welded together.

 

Other than that it's just normal Mini rust areas, floors, sills, A panels, wings, boot floor, rear subframe, inside rear companion bins, door posts, front panel, everywhere really!
