Hi Guys

Its been a while since i have posted on here and been a while since i have used my car,  Ascari coming up in June so well its one not to miss, anyway after blowing up my gearbox a year ago or so i have been gradually swapping out and building a new box over the last few months, just bought a new Redtop 30 battery, cleaned the TB,s and fired her up yesterday started fine but only run the car for 10 mins or so not enough time for the engine to get to temp, today i had the car running for 40 mins all the fans cut in out temp sitting at 90/92 all sweet so it seemed, turned off the engine now i can't get her start just cranks over, any ideas i haven't looked at anything yet thought someone could shed some light 1st.....

This is what i do know if it helps.....

fuel in tank

fuel rail cold as if it has fuel in it

new coil pack used for an hour last year

new battery yesterday and charged

alternator at 1,4v+

crank sensor runs of the cams for the Hydra ECM ( The car i have is the very 1st Vtec built by Zcars was Chris personal car no 93)

not sure if they still use the crank sensor for the pick up for the ECU.

new plugs

new leads

Fuel pressure at 3,5 bar more or less running on an open loop so no fuel tank back vac pressure

any ideas!!

Shady

I would check the plugs to make sure you are getting spark.  I had replaced the coil pack on my wifes car a few years ago and it worked for a couple of hours then just died.  It was a faulty coil pack.  Would not give any spark.  That would be my first starting point as you say it is cranking but not turning over and the engine is getting fuel.

thanks for your advise

I had spoke to the guys at Zcars today and both agreed to swap the temp sensor in the head and the air sensor, the car did start 2 hours after my post as the temp was at 32 on the dash and again this morning, the coil pack is a new one its only done 1 hr from new, I was told off for the fuel pressure being at at 3,5 bar but if i lower it the exhaust glows red so to an option may even try 4 bar over fuelling engine runs colder the only prob i may have is that the plugs might foul up, i will pull the plugs this weekend and see if they are fouled anyway or see what they can tell me...

I had this 'hot start'problem on a completely different car. Could be your fuel rail depressurising, via a leaky injector or (if you have one) a leaking check valve on a fuel pump. Try doing a leak down test on your fuel system. Does the problem happen as soon as the engine is turned off or is it after 10 mins?
