Hi , I have been looking at adding a supercharger kit to my mini . Please could someone advise if the m45 eaton needs any modifying internally?? I know I need to drill and tap for inlet carb pipe . And can it run on mechnical fuel pump and does it need a fuel return etc like a turbo ??

You don't need a return fuel line but it would be advisable to swap the mechanical pump for an electric one to keep up with the increased fuel demand.

The suck through superchargers have a belt tensioner bolted onto the side but nothing modified internally.

You do need to modify the supercharger internally, otherwise the flow out of the manifold would be vastly restricted....

Care to elaborate?

Out of interest, why is your outlet hole there? Most kits are more central so no need to modify the bottom of the charger.
With that chunk taken out can you still use the original bmw mini steel gasket?

You can't put the outlet hole more central to the supercharger, otherwise the pulley won't line up with the crank pulley, and the pipe work between each inlet port to the head won't be equal. Do you have pictures of other inlet manifolds??

Look at side entrance manifolds, such as Evo's, supras etc, they don't have to be equal to the ports. Not by a long shot.

Here's a pic of my old vmax one, if that's any good for you. Never realised but its slightly off the centre of the inlet manifold.

It will not make a difference.

Just picked up my eaton charger, can't wait to get it fitted!

I'll have an inlet manifold made up this week for this setup, with a proper merge collector where the inlet pipes join. I'm not sure why they all have such a small opening when the blower outlet is so much bigger? Plenty of scope to improve the flow out of the blower. I'm trying to get hold of an SC to get some dimensions of the outlet to make something up, and also configure it for blow though too.

Just had a look on you facebook page. The bits and pieces look good. Are you building a 16v blow through set up?
