Sad also to see the iconic still fit for purpose BBC Television Centre closed on a whim for short term budget cuts....

Phillip Schofield (and many others) who got his big break at Television Centre as a children's presenter 30 years ago, said the BBC's decision to sell was criminal.

"It is utterly shocking, it's outrageous, it's a critically appalling decision. It's an amazing building. London is desperately short of studio space. You can't find a studio.
It's purpose-built, it does everything you want television to do, so why don't we pull it down. It's criminal."

– Phillip Schofield

Well it's not really all that fit for purpose to be honest. There is a lot wrong with the original design, but it was pretty much the worlds first TV studio so it was an experiment. It's a hell of a lot better than where they are now though, which is more or less a series of warehouse units with insufficient electrical power and no parking.

Knock, Knock, Knock.

.

You can hear the sound of Quentin Wilson banging on the BBC doors trying to get his old job back.

If 'The Classic Car Show' is anything to go by I bloody hope not! That is seriously overproduced drivel in my opinion.

The man is a god, his hydro formed pulse jet is amazing. Sadly my boss (who has let me build hovercraft, quads, cars AND take them racing in the past) has specifically said NO pulse jets.

i personally think the only person capable off doing a new an interesting top gear would be Chris Harris from Evo & Chris Harris on cars. he has a no Bull*** approach to cars and asks interesting questions. if any old top/ fifth gear presenters get near the new tog gear format its ruined

If Top Gear has any chance of surviving now, I think it really needs to be completely reinvented with a completely new format & new set of presenters. In it's current format it's basically the Clarkson show + sidekicks, so any attempt at just replacing Clarkson will be doomed to failure.

In other news I hear the only UK channel that are prepared to offer Clarkson a contract now are Channel 5, and so far he's refusing to work for them!
