They're very difficult to get hold of, I'm afraid. I should know, as I managed to get one recently, but at a cost far greater than what the non branded and other Rover/BMW branded units go for.
The guy that had it could sense how much I wanted it, so he sort of had me over a barrel. Told me if I wanted it, I'd have to fork out enough for him to buy a state of the art head unit to replace it with, otherwise it would not be worth his time. He did offer me the princely sum of £20 for my old Mini branded cassette unit, but I kindly declined.
Prior to that I was phoning every man and his dog with the same response. See if you can find a dealer who is selling a car which has the unit in already; that's the most likely way you'll find one. Plenty of non branded ones on eBay mind, if you don't absolutely need a Mini branded unit (unfortunately, my brain can't make that rationalisation).
The good thing about these units is that you can hook up 3rd party units to the slot for the CD auto changer to give you Bluetooth connectivity. That's what I have detailed here (albeit in the wrong section of the forums, which might be why no one ever replied!):

reviving this a bit... From what i understand the Blaupunk CD43 does not require a cage to mount was this common from factory?
Also surround trim is quite hard to find and I have seen many minis missing this. Are there aftermarket trims that may fit around the CD43?
Thanks

Correct they do not require a cage to mount.
I didn't think the mini ever had a surround for them? Im curious if they did from factory (mine doesn't have one)

Original trim was Rover part number FAP100970 PMA but I think as most CD upgrades were dealer fitted this got missed off many even from new. As they are now obsolete I have seen the trims go for over £100 and the stereos are now fetching £2-300
