Hi all,

just stumbled upon a 2nd hand 998 (engine) in working order and the guy wants £100 but I'm sure I can knock him down a bit...

Question: Not really mechanically minded, although just did my first cylinder head gasket, is this worth it for the donor parts...?

I was thinking of stripping it down (which I can do), and then getting everything cleaned and sprayed 'like new' - as and when, then these could be utilised.

or keep the £100 in the bank until it's needed.?

would a basic head be worth the investment to get to Stage3..?

cheers all

Nothing you could really re use apart from the crank, cam etc. Oh, and beware when selling in Belgium, had nu short engine sold to 3 people now, still waiting on collection...

I guess reuable parts you will have the crank, rods? Rocker cover, timing cover, tappet covers, pulleys, bolts, gearbox, flywheel, casings, oil filter housing. Theres alot of stuff that can be re used.

To be fair if a cheap engine comes up locally i always buy them but always assume they need a rebuild!
