Admin/mods,

There are an ever increasing amount of topics in the FAQ section where the photos are no longer showing, usually with dead links or users removing them. Under the premise of a picture painting a thousand words, is there anyway we can chase up the original posters and get them to either upload the pics to maybe the TMF server or add them back in?

Regards
Steve

Yeah, it's a pain really.

If the OP could edit the posts with the missing links and update them, fair enough.  But it's the amount of time it'd take to chase them all up that's the issue.

Matt, what about moving the FAQs with image fails to a new section with general user access so we know what topics have issues and as we are working on our cars we might be able to redo the topics. or just replicate the missing pictures?

Write a generic message, copy, paste it into a PM to the OP of the topic. I've done this before when I've admined forums and it take around an hour.

The problem with that is for the most part those people who have lapsed photos are no longer active members and often no longer contactable. Even if they are updated it's not ideal to rely on peoples personal external storage for the photos. I tried a while ago to start getting all the photos placed into the actual board storage itself but it's not really pheasable, the photos have to be stored in a member account. Maybe an account should be created just for this, with unlimited photo storage.

I agree with Steve.
Some of the OPs are still around. Guessworks for one, and I suspect his FAQ posts would be really useful to have updated at the very least.

Even if the old pics can't be resurected, could we at least have some way to preserve those for new FAQs?

(I could have sworn I started this topic two or three months ago. But apparently I didn't. Bizarre.)

As a complete noob this is something I'd really love to see happen. Just about to start doing a bit of work to mine and the FAQ's are brilliant but they'd be so much better with the relevant pics. I was thinking of trying to recreate the pics as I go through the job and getting an admin to put them in place of the dead links, it's not a perfect solution obviously but it's something.

I think as mentioned a lot of members who originally posted the pictures do leave the forum so very difficult to restore pictures. Have a look at the numerous pinned threads on each section to see if the info you need is there.

This is something that Adam may possibly be able to do something about if the system will allow it. I will run it past him to see what can be done if anything.
