Servo - I Just About Give Up!

Best Answer stoneface , 19 April 2015 - 01:51 PM

I had the same trouble so made up this.

Fix the plate with 3 holes onto the bottom of the servo and clamp in a vice.

Fix the handle to the top 4 studs, and turn.

It worked a treat.

I don't have the plate with 3 holes any more as I modified it for another job, but still have the handle if you want to borrow it. Or make your own.

Hi,

I am at the end of my tether with my Servo. I'm trying to fit a refurb kit from minispares.

For the life of me I cannot close the servo any more than is shown in these photos.I just can't compress the rubber further. It's all in correctly so is there a knack to doing this or do I have to given in and buy a new one?

Thanks,

Rod

was it just turning force required to compress the rubber then?

yes just turning force. Also, make sure you have lubricated the rubber seal with brake rubber grease.

I think I was able to put a crowbar across two of the studs and lever it round. Need to keep your lever low on the studs.

I completely destroyed my servo just getting it apart. After hours of cleaning the join and soaking in penetrating oil, it finally gave way. Unfortunately, not at the join!

Not wanting to waste the cost of my repair kit, I bought a second hand one on eBay for £45 and proceeded to do exactly the same to that.

Maybe I'm just cack handed, or they had both rusted and weakened the metal too much.

Either way, I chucked the whole lot in the bin and bought a new one.

Sorry a major leap of 6 years.
