Meant to be collecting our very tidy 25k miles Mayfair tomorrow, our bank held the transfer for security until this morning and the seller only has phone banking that closes at lunchtime on a Saturday so can't confirm payment until Monday if it's not showing by twelve today! :-( why anyone would have their banking setup like that I don't know but it is what it is, poop.

That's all really, just a rant :-)

I am adding a picture just for fun! Hopefully wednesday evening now all being well.

We had a booklet and a letter through from our bank last week advising about changes to telephone banking hours. I haven't read it yet though as we don't do telephone banking.

Shame about the car though Pete. I hope it hasn't put you back too far with regards to collecting it?

Ben

Can you not phone the bank and speak to an adviser? Normally with big payments / transfers they just want to know that it's actually you doing it. If you tell them it is, they can press the button for it to go through?

Surely some things like balance checking can be done using phone banking without speaking to a human?

Telephone banking is 24hrs surely? Does he mean he wants to phone his branch to confirm it's in? Branches may close at 12.

It's all legit, we have authorised it this morning via text but it isn't showing his end yet, turns out it's five pm not twelve but that's it until Monday now.

As for cash it suited us both this way, we left the deposit in cash and knowing what we know now me and the wife could have took £300 each from three cards we have each on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, hindsight eh?

It's one of these one accounts, it may be why it hasn't gone straight in, the account supports internet banking but he was on the phone so long trying to set it up he gave up! Maybe barclays ain't so bad after all?.....

No it's linked to his mortgage and all that, he has another account that it could have gone to but again hindsight.

Thanks Wingnut, just keeping it stock, some new chrome where it's pitted and lots of rust treatment!!!

A good service, Subby mounts at the front, coolant flush and new hoses maybe, usual low mileage car stuff.

Ebay classified advert, nice chap whose had it 2 years off the original old lady owner but isnt using enough. As usual there are bad bits close up, sill patches solid but just plates rather than cutting them from sill panels to keep the flutes, wing joins filled at the tops etc but it would be another grand without any niggles really, when you start looking at lots of them you can see why proper mint cars fetch big money.
