Good morning all. This is a seperate thread just for the pictures of my crash yesterday so you can all see how a mini stands up to being rolled at about 40mph. These photos have not been edited. Original thread:

Ouch? surprised how easily its crumpled down at 40mph, thought it would have faired better than that! Plenty of salvagable parts though. You had a lucky escape.

Was just reading your other thread. No idea what car you should be looking for to be honest, but had to say seriously lucky to just walk away from that (as you know& will be told a thousand times). Hope it gets sorted with the insurance quickly, sure with a write off it should go through fairly easy.

I was doing 15mph going into a turning after getting my daughter from school when got hit in the side (other car also trundling) and he pushed the whole of drivers wing in, couldn't believe how easily it did crumble at such a slow speed. My main reason for now having a "more practical" daily :( even though previously I would argue until I was blue in the face that she was just as safe as any other car out there.

Looks like it had a hard impact on the passenger door area that may have contributed to the extensive damage.

I understand why the salvage company thought it was fatal.

Go buy yourself a lottery ticket

Ouch!

Glad you were able to walk away from it which is the most important thing and that no one else was hurt.
However, I am sorry to see your Mini in such a state. :(

Wow, that really does make me think that the thread last week about fitting a roll cage after they had survived crash might not be quite the scare mongering I first thought!!

I escaped unscathed from a roll over at 40 mph about 22 yrs ago after hitting oil spill on bend in road and being flipped by the opposite kerb down an embankment - I was in an even older Mazda 626 (which didnt survive), but I count my lucky stars each day since then!

If there was ever an incentive to fit a good roll hoop...

They may class the blood as a health hazard and not be willing to sell you it back.

The issue with cages is smashing your head off them in a collision and them causing brain damage. I'm not saying I agree or disagree with this, but they're designed for when you're wearing a crash helmet.

Cat b allows you to salvage parts but the shell needs to be crushed, is that right? Fingers crossed. I atleast want the steering wheel off it

As I said yesterday glad you are OK, and a good job you had no passenger. That said after 30 years in the Fire Service I have seen people walk away from worse looking wrecks and conversely I have seen wrecks with little damage where they did not walk away. Hope everything is sorted soon and that you are not too sore post crash
