1998 Rover Mini Cooper MPI - 'Dave'
Dave, as he was so affectionately named by his previous owner, used to belong to a good friend of mine. After two years of using Dave as her daily driver (fault free) she decided it was time to get a bigger car in perpetration of future family plans. This is where I step in. As I'd helped my friend buy Dave in the first place, and been the one to regularly maintain him. I couldn't let him be part exchanged and sent off to auction. As a mini enthusiast myself, I decided to rescue him, give him some love and then make sure he goes to a good home.......
MOT: 29th October 2015
Body:
1998 Rover Mini Cooper MPI (Multi Point Injection)
British racing green, with old English white roof and mirrors.
His paintwork has been professionally detailed, corrected, and sealed; and shines better than some show cars.
However Dave is showing sings of his age. As typical with all late minis, the dreaded rust has reared its ugly head, but is not half as bad as some I've seen.
He's bubbling in all the common places, scuttle panel, A panel, under headlights, valances ect... but this is all cosmetic, Dave is very solid underneath.
Engine:
Dave currently has 100k on the clock, but please do not let this put you off. He drives fantastically and without fault.
Absolutely NO signs of smoke...
I have a MPI with a brand new old stock engine and gearbox, and I wish that drove as nicely as Dave does.
I've fitted a full brand new RC40 exhaust system with de-cat, from front to back. Not only does it sound lovely, it looks the part without being too OTT.
Dave's also been treated to new steady arm bushes, so they are nice and solid with no play.
I gave Dave a full service two months ago for the previous owner which consisted of new:
Oil / Oil filter
Air filter
Plugs / Silicone leads
Coolant flushed and renewed.
Wheels / Suspension:
Standard suspension, sitting on Rover 12" minilights.
The previous owner fitted four new Yokohoma tyres about 6 months ago, with loads of tread still remaining.
Dave has just had his tracking professionally set up
Interior:
The interior has been scrubbed within an inch of its life and now looks amazing.
Standard half leather Cooper monaco seats, with no rips or tears.
Walnut dash, with centre clock.
Three clock, magnolia dials
I fitted a new rare and hard to come by black leather air bag steering wheel to replace the tatty two-tone.
Brand new '500' type gearknob
Brand new black floor mats.
The boot is finished off with a black boot lining kit and bootlid carpet.
Dave really needs to be seen to be appreciated.
Please feel free to text or call with any questions.
Located in Shorne, Kent DA12, 10 mins from Bluewater.
