I work at the PSA Peugeot Citroen Technical Centre in Coventry, and this RCZ came to us on 22nd December 2014 in quite a bad way. It was when it was very icy and someone had attempted a corner too fast, hit the back of the rcz and the resulting occurred.

So the tinny in the body shop got to work in getting it on the jig and straightening it out and replacing a whole host of panels
(Please excuse the tiny pictures)

This is where I come in. First off was to get the rear beam and tank in so that it is down its wheels

Thats the rear beam in with the jigs in place to line it up correctly

A shot of how it looked from the rear

Springs and shocks in

Both hub assemblies in (drivers side had new hub as a precaution)

Down on the ground with the glass now installed and the boot fitted

I then made a start on the inside. Plenty of confusion here but in the end...

I then moved back to the outside and built the rear bumper up, and got that fitted

Now the annoying bit, because of the shunt and being on the jig, the bonnet latch is too far down so some fettling was required to bring the latch up

And this is how I left it this afternoon

It was valued at £22k and because no air bags went off, the main cost was the labour.

no, total fixing cost should be around 10 grand and value is 22....

if airbags went off or roofline would have shown damage yes but like this, its economically a good one to repair.

bigger and more important question here: WHY are the front airbags not out with this impact on the front???? This is an absolut standard impact and impact depth were the airbag has to come out.

I suppose the impact on the front has been absorbed as designed. It does take a fair impact to set them off.

The bags didn't go off as it was parked up. The car was hit by a hit and run driver that shunt the car into a lamppost

Looks good work.

If it was mine I would want it written off and not want it back

Ahh, only explanation why with this impact the airbags not went off as seat dedication shown an empty driver seat.

The smashed front bumper

New front bumper built up

The clear pipe is for the air bag sensors, on the old bumper, it was severed in to three places. If the ignition had have been on, the bags would gone off.

Front bumper on, we then had the pain of aligning the bonnet which took about half an hour to do

And there we go, finished. Going to check the geometry on Monday and bleed the brakes and then road test.
