Hi All.

I have got some rugged laptops for sale which would be ideal for use in the Garage

I have one in my garage and its ideal for getting online right when you are in the middle of working and need to look something up, as it saves having to risk taking more fragile laptops/ ipads into the garage or muck about on your phone.

It would also be perfect for running diagnostic software from or setting up Mega Jolt etc as well as watching those Youtube how to videos whilst rebuilding your mini’s engine etc.

Of course, they would be ideal for any use really. Perhaps for children so you don’t have to wince watching them almost drop you more expensive laptop on the floor!

They are all exactly the same and in great condition and have just come out of light service due to a standard IT asset changeover in a school.

The Make and model is RM Mobile One and they are reputed to be military standard drop tested, have a spill and splash proof keyboard and a reinforced screen.

Apparently they can also withstand being run over by a car but I have not tested this myself and don’t intend to!

They have a Magnesium Alloy casing and rubberised bumpers on the edges to protect from bumps and knocks.

I have given them a light refurb but to be honest, they are so clean inside and out, they look hardly used. They have received a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate which is Activated and fully updated

The specification is as follows

Intel Core 2 duo

2Gb Ram with a spare slot to take it up to 4Gb if you wish

160Gb Hard drive

Wi-Fi

4 x USB Ports

Webcam

Windows 7 Ultimate Sp1

Antivirus software

There is no Bluetooth, although there is a spare pci slot and antenna cabling under the bottom cover if you wanted to fit it.

I am happy to upgrade the Ram or fit Bluetooth prior to dispatch if you need it but PM me first to arrange a price.

Here is a link to the RM factsheet on this model if you wanted to read more

Battery time varies between them all but averages anywhere between 3.5 and 7 hours which is ideal.

Genuine original Mains charger included and I also have a couple of laptop bags which ill chuck in with the first few that go. I have some more bags coming soon though.

Please expect light scratches/marks to the casings but all the bits that matter are perfect like the screen, keyboard/ touchpad etc.

The screen looks dark in the photos but this is just where it is running on the battery and is in power saving mode.

Thought I would offer them up on here before they go to eBay.

I have 9 to sell and they are £110 each posted anywhere in the UK.

No collection unless you happen to live on the Isle of Wight??

Don't suppose they have a serial port? Or able to fit a serial port? It's for connecting my Emerald ECU to and I've tried using a USB to serial adapter in the past and they're just crap to say the least.

Unfortunately no.

I was just checking to see if they had a PCMCIA slot as you can get express cards with a serial port but they don't.

Modern laptops don't tend to have them any more but i do have a couple of slightly older laptops for sale, both of which have PCMCIA slots, both are still dual core etc and you would be able to use one of these http://www.ebuyer.co...EtcaAnEG8P8HAQ.

Let me know if you are interested in one.

Cheers

As Ben has mentioned there should be no issue with regards to licences. Also although Ben is a member of the Team he is also registered as a trader.

I have sent a PM to the concerned member about the licences. These machines were licensed for educational purposes when they were in service. Now they are retired, recommissioned and have no association with educational licences or any school property.

They have been purchased by me from a licensed IT broker.

As it goes, i have very limited numbers left now anyway. I have a local man coming to view one tomorrow afternoon and that will leave me with two, one of which i am holding for someone and the other, i am using myself to test out the pre-release demonstrator of windows 10  :D
