I think the best way to restore that car would be to put it into a new heritage shell, especially as it appears to have rusted just about everywhere. Unfortunately, at the moment, you would struggle to restore it for less than it's restored value. Currently it is possible to get a £10,000 agreed value on a freshly restored late GT, but no more. I have a mate who has just completed a 1980 GT which is totally standard. It cost a bit over £10k to do but his insurers won't value it any higher.

If you are wanting to sell it for a quick profit stick it on Ebay, with a following wind you might get £1000 or more. Especially as this even rustier one sold for £800 a couple of weeks ago.

My non-GT Clubby (seen in the banner on this forum) was valued last month by Footman James at £13000, agreed value with certificate etc. It does have alot of Speedwell parts and I made the assessor realize how rare they were, but I would have thought that a good GT would equal it in value? Who is your friend insured with?

As for the blue GT here, I would be tempted to transfer all the parts to a good second hand shell (not ringing, keep the reg etc of the new shell).

Very nice that is. You can restore that shell easy and it's the original would be worth it in the end. Are you going to restore it or sell it on? Cheers Tom

If i restored that, i would keep the keyring but just punch a line through 'rot box' but so it is still visible
