Seat position is sorted and lush...only issue is that Safety Devices have put the harness bar way too high on the rear section of cage.  So that rear cage is going back and they're sending me another one.

I've welded a set of 3mm plates (approx. 100x100mm squares) into the inner sills and the exhaust tunnel.  Then welded 25x25x2mm box section between them.  The seats are pretty far back in the car (seeing as I'm a big un).  But there's still plenty of head room and side-to-side room for head/neck movement.  Obviously going to pad the front cage where my legs could bang into it, but don't really need much padding on there at all.

Also cleaned up and prepped the new front legs, the rear beam and that's all painted black now.  Got to crack on with more welding then it could be ready to slap paint on within a month, hopefully. :D

I had to cut out the seat rails to remove the roll cage. They'd put the harness bar in the wrong position so sent me a new cage out. I decided that the seat position I originally had was too far back, even or me. Clutch leg was very nearly straight and I'm just not used to that much leg room, plus it meant I needed a hella dish steering wheel. Instead, I've opted to go about 50mm further forward than original position so given myself even more work. Oops.

New brakes
IMG_20161109_200455.jpg

Vectra V6 calipers and pads. Fiat Coupe 16V discs. All fit together ok. The Vectra V6 has 5 x 112 PCD so I couldn't use the discs. They're 288mm diameter. I found Fiat coupe discs of the same overall offset, 284mm diameter and 4 x 98 PCD. Vauxhall 4 stud are 4 x 100 PCD. These discs fit. Centre bore on VX discs is 56.1 IIRC, FIAT coupe closer to 58.9. So I got some spigot rings to centralise them and they will work perfectly. Decent sized brakes seeing as even with new discs and pads, plus good second hand calipers and new hoses only totalled 95 quid! :proud:

Only issue with the above was needing big brake clearance.

IMG_20170310_074601_435.jpg

Solid alloy top mounts and custom strut brace, 17" 5 spokes, bilstein dampers on the front, Konis on the rear, just need some track tyres and all is good.

Got the allot fuel tank and swirl pot added in too. Also got a Facet redtop supplying the swirl pot and a Bosch 044 supplying the injectors.

Had an issue with the spherical bearing sleeves not fitting my Billy dampers, so had some new ones machined

RAWWWWWWWWWWWRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

SO in love with the way this car is looking now.

Decided to fit some 15" BBS RZs off an E30, they look SO much better than the 7x17" KN Dytecs.  I need to sell them now, but am still tempted to keep them as a set of spares to bang some super low profile tyres on.

Loads more done, not many pics.  Got a video of it running last night.  I'd got the pumps wired up so that I primed them with ignition on, then whilst cranking it was cutting the feed to the relays.  Now I've corrected that it's starting fine.  Bit tappy when cold.

I've got a little list of jobs to do over the next week and then it's time for it to get OTR at last.

Mainly bodywork, but I do have a few little niggly things to sort like brake bleeding, make some guards for the fuel lines, new set of rear pads...nothing major, but still need doing.

So it's go go go in time for the big Germany trip on June 8th!

Just hope I can get lots of practise driving it before I hit the 'ring on June 9th! :D
