Putting a slightly different slant on it. Science can't accept an answer to why unless it can be proved by showing how. Religion, or faith, is more about effect than cause when it asks why.

 

A scientist would ask, "Why did that happen"

The religious ask, " Why is it in my interest to believe that"

 

The latter is often the more important question to ask.

this is why religion should never be discussed or debated. because people start ripping into each other and it gets nasty. 

 

the way i see it, if someone is curious about religion speak about it. if someone isn't, don't force it down someones throat. 

same applies to atheists, just because you don't believe in God, doesn't mean you should force your non beliefs down someone else throat, 

 

as a christian, i don't go around shouting at muslims, jews or atheists that they are all wrong. i respect their views and beliefs, same way it would be nice if the same people i respected, could respect my beliefs back.

Telling people to stop doing anything is the same as telling people what they should be doing, I see no evidence of anyone ripping into anyone?

 

Telling someone why you don't believe or why you do is not preaching until you tell them they should follow your way of thinking, I'm happy to be a non believer but at the same time very open minded to anything so that could change if God spoke to me, as yet not a Dicky bird though
