I have inherited a red classic mini cooper, one of the last off the production line in 2000, but not registered until 2001. It was bought by my great aunt, and prior to me has had just the one proverbial old and very careful lady driver (when I collected it in 2012, I was apparently the first person to have ever used the passenger seat). It has done just over 9000 miles, and although I love it, as I live in London I just don’t need a car, and this is definitely a car that prefers to be used, so I have reluctantly decided to sell it.

I wondered if anyone could give me some advice on valuations, as the mileage is unusually low, and it was one of the last 50 or so ever made. The exterior is all original and bar new floor mats and the addition of door panel speakers, the interior is also entirely unchanged.

The two main issues are a couple of pinhead sized holes in the interior cloth roof lining, and as the photos show, a small amount of (largely cosmetic) rust starting along the panel edges in the usual mini-rust locations.

Any and all advice regarding a valuation would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Emily

Welcome to TMF

Can you take some pictures of the seams under the headlights, and the scuttle (bottom of the windscreen where it meets the wings) please?

Agreed, that will make it much easier to value.

Unfortunatly Mini rust is very rarely just cosmetic as they rust from the inside out :(

I can see it being valuable though based just on its originality and the incredible low mileage.

Does it have service history?

And welcome!

Ben

Not 100% sure on value but unless it's hiding some nasties I would be looking at upwards of 5k.
For clarification; it's not one of the last 50, it's a mainstream Cooper, which in itself is quite rare with those miles. But not a final edition or limited edition

Hi

Thank you all for your comments, sorry for the delay, I've been away and couldn't take any additional pictures. To answer the questions, it does have its service history.

Here are the extra pictures, let me know if you need anything else!

Many thanks again,

Emily

Very hard to value since you don't see many regular coopers sold as late as this, so hard to compare it with cooper sports around the same time. Not seen an dash like that on the later coopers, is it painted on top of the alloy?

Thought it was only the cooper sports that had the alloy dash? Looking at the mini brochure I have here from 2000 the cooper all had colour coordinated dashes

as steve has suggested; the dash is standard for the car

the alloy dash were in the CS including the 500's and the 40 le's, I think they were also in the 1999 john coopers

well learn't something new, never seen the colour coordinated dash before, just the walnut and alloy, well and the paul smith but that doesnt count. Wonder how many of those late coopers sold compared to the sports and se7ens

Tidy looking car, I should have added

It's a Cooper classic, different trim, body colour dash etc.

Quite a rare car really. I've just restored one.
