Is so hot, the temp guage on my mini is reading just above the 90 degrees, ie the needle has moved off the stop. I've not used the car for weeks though, so must be just the ambient heat in the car port...!

just took the min out for half an hours blast (completely std.998 Mk4) & at almost every junction the revs wavered up and down, sometimes near stalling!
Last month full service inc. points & new K&N filter, and she has ALWAYS driven like a dream...
Can 40+ degrees have this affect on an A series engine.?
sorry to say this, but can someone turn the thermostat down - I want my old mini back!

I raced historic minis in this temperature at a track called Lakeside
in Brisbane not much fun trying to keep her cool
ran secondary rad and a revotec type and mechanical fan
we tried for about 80 -85 but always got 90 plus half way thro
the race.
Winter was better as climate cooler temp was around 20
we ran Castrol racing 50 was good oil

I was driving from St. Ives (Cambs) to my home this afternoon and the temp gauge read 35.5 degrees. I sure was glad of the BMW air-con set at 18.5 degs. and the retractable sun blinds on the rear and rear-side windows.
Then a saw a Mk.1 Mini Traveller in almond green with wood trim going the other way and thought how hot it must have been inside. But it was good to see a classic Mini on the road and this one looked superb. It looked original and completely standard (still 850 I guess).

I was too cold today at work, sat right under the AC and some of the others in the office had cranked the air-con too far down
then sat in the car for an 40 mins just to move 1/2 a mile... first world problems! Glad I had the cars A/C fixed last weekend!!

I once did an international rally in Belgium in a Cooper 'S'. It was hot, like really hot - the hottest day recorded in Belgium for over 50 years. It was 39 degrees C (103 degs F). Now to keep the Mini cool we ran the auxiliary fan and the heater on full as well as the 6-blade export fan. That kept the engine cool, but imagine the crew as we were dressed in 2-layer Nomex fireproof overalls and helmets. I reckon I lost around 8 lbs in 2 days.
My buddy who was driving my 'S', with me doing the navigating and reading the pace notes, lives in California and in those days ran Formula 1 Air Racing in the USA. He was used to very high air temperatures and he sent our service team out to buy large bottles of water and to add lots of salt to each one. We drank about 1 litre at each service point. It worked, as did putting damp towels over our heads when out of the car (borrowed from the hotel). That worked fine.

That will be the end of the summer if you do Ben! Ha
I'm just annoyed because it was working well but then i had to remove the A/C pipes to do an engine change and lost all the refrigerant

Air con is uncomfortably cold in my car. Does this help?
