They are a lot more expensive

Green flag have a car age limit of 15 years old on there personal cover .

I want the personal cover for my minis and metro and my scooter ......they are all over that age limit .

Some of the main companies only cover up to a five year old car !

Gem came top in the 2014 AutoExpress survey:-

I use Brittania Rescue who came second in the same survey.

Autoaid

£40ish for the year and if it breaks down they get you home. Officially as it's actually an insurance policy you are supposed to pay the recovery agent they send and then claim it back from Autoaid sometimes that happens and it's a painless and fast process but it's not unusual for the recovery outfit to bill Autoaid direct. I know a good number of people who use them and have actually had to use the service in anger so I've every reason to believe they do what they say on the tin.

Most of the others will happily dump you on the forecourt of a main stealer or garage if they can't fix it at the side of the road - you are then in the perfect position for the garage to charge as much as they can get away with to fix your car or they charge you storage fees whilst you arrange transportation to get the car taken to a garage of you trust.

Found this I realise it's old but for folks looking I recommend gem. Used them 3 times and has been quick and painless each time. I get the reclaim package. They use companies like gallows wood, tinda lee etc and you pay them direct fill in the form they send you in the post and send it back. Real easy and for 70 quid for 2 people in pretty much any vehicle it's a bargain.
